China is one of the fastest-growing regions in the world for

year 2003, local production is estimated to an approximate of
US$1 billion; annual purchasing at US$400 million.
Emerson first licensed technology to China through its Rosemount
division in 1979. In 1992, the company opened its first factory,
a manufacturing plant in Shenzhen. Since then, Emerson has expanded
rapidly, leveraging the opportunities offered by China’s steady
modernization to establish 28 manufacturing facilities at the
13 locations of Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Fuzhou, Suzhou, Huzhou,
Shenzhen, Qingdao, Tianjin, Jiangmen, Bao’an, Luoding and Shenyang.
In late October 2001, Emerson acquired the Shenzhen-based Avansys
Power Co., Ltd, a former subsidiary of Huawei Technologies. Currently
a core member of the Emerson Network Power business competency,
Avansys provides telecom and data network power conversion products
to Huawei and other China telecom customers. This transaction
significantly increases Emerson’s overall presence in China.
